A Michigan robo-call has been made – calling all Democrats – on Santorum's behalf. Weigel anticipates tomorrow's spin:

If Romney loses Michigan and Democrats make up the defeat margin, he still has to prep for the Washington state caucuses on Saturday, where, historically, social conservatives have mopped up. And he has to explain why it's a bad thing if Democrats want to vote for Santorum. The candidate, who has wrestled from the outset with "the electability question," has claimed and swore that he can win Reagan Democrats and the effete Romney can't. What's the second-day spin from a Democrats-for-Santorum win?

Chait notes it's happened before:

Republicans helped throw the 1972 and 1988 Democratic primaries to George Wallace and Jesse Jackson, to the mortal embarrassment of Democratic leaders. Democratic voters pulled the same trick in 2000, supporting John McCain over George W. Bush, to the high-profile embarrassment of Republican governor John Engler who backed Bush.

This will make the exit polls much more important than usual tonight. There's a distinction between mischief-making Daily Kos readers and blue-collar Dems genuinely turned off by Romney and his self-admitted pluto-gaffes. More on this here.
