Most are unfazed; but 19 percent say it makes them less likely to vote for the GOP candidate. In swing states, one in five independent voters could be salient in a close election. And people say America is not a country that cares about class. Perhaps in the recent mid-century past. But less so in today's far less equal social order. Which is why, by the way, that conservatives should worry about soaring inequality. It can begin to delegitimize the free market system.
