It's been a horrible week, but Romney continues to rise slowly in the polls, empowered by Obama's dumb-ass, off-the-cuff "you didn't build that" riff. I know the GOP's attacks are based on an obvious and crude distortion of the context. But when even Ed Morrissey is re-posting doctored clips of Obama speeches and baldly misrepresenting them, you know that you simply cannot afford unscripted, undisciplined digressions. The above graph removes Rasmussen, the GOP-skewed outfit, and still shows Romney gaining. Given how appalling his campaign has been so far – from the tax returns to the London implosion – his resilience says one thing to me: he must now be the favorite. Unless Obama manages to change the current dynamic, he's going to lose.
