[Psychophysiologist Joseph] Tecce also noted — as others have — that Obama showed “frequent gaze avoidance” during last night’s debate, which is often a physiological response to stress. But this is also nothing new for the president: Tecce found that Obama had a comparable rate of gaze avoidance to McCain in the 2008 debates. On average, Obama looked down 16 times a minute compared to McCain's 14 times a minute.
