2013 Hewitt Award Nominees

The Hewitt Award is named after the absurd partisan fanatic, Hugh Hewitt, is given for the most egregious attempts to label Barack Obama as un-American, alien, treasonous, and far out of the mainstream of American life and politics.

Below are the finalists we’ve selected for the 2013 Hewitt Award, please review them and then vote for your favorite at the bottom of the page.

1) Orson Scott Card (Aug 15):

“Where will [Obama] get his ‘national police’? The NaPo will be recruited from “young out-of-work urban men” and it will be hailed as a cure for the economic malaise of the inner cities. In other words, Obama will put a thin veneer of training and military structure on urban gangs, and send them out to channel their violence against Obama’s enemies. Instead of doing drive-by shootings in their own neighborhoods, these young thugs will do beatings and murders of people “trying to escape” — people who all seem to be leaders and members of groups that oppose Obama,”

2) Patrick Howley (Aug 20):

“With the addition of Sunny, the Obamas now have two black Portuguese water dogs. The Obamas do not have any white dogs, ”

3) Charles Hurt (Mar 6):

“That’s right, you, the American voter, have become Mr. Obama’s voodoo doll, and he is jabbing you all over with sharp pins and placing demonic hexes on you right now as you read this. This is gonna hurt and you are going to feel it! He wants you to feel writhing pain and he wants you to associate that pain with the leaner government espoused by his political opponents — as well as the majority of American voters. In four short years, Obama has gone from hopeful orator promising a bright new future to economic terrorist, a spending jihadist,”

4) Larry Pittman, North Carolina State Representative (Oct 25):

“Someone had posted something with a picture of Barack Obama and across it said ‘traitor.’ And, you know, I don’t always agree with the guy, I certainly didn’t vote for him but I gotta defend him on this one. I just don’t think it’s right at all to call Barack Obama a traitor. There’s a lot of things he’s done wrong but he is not a traitor. Not as far as I can tell. I haven’t come across any evidence yet that he has done one thing to harm Kenya,”
