Photographer Lindsey Villatoro put together a mock wedding for an 11-year-old whose dad is dying of pancreatic cancer:
Why not give her something every little girl deserves? After speaking to Josie’s mom, the plan began to take shape: they would create a surprise wedding for Josie so that she could have her father walk her down the aisle.
In 72 hours, Villatoro was able to bring together a wedding dress from L.A. Fashion Week, catering, flowers, tux, hair, makeup and more, all donated by her local vendors. There was even a wedding cake and promise ring. In all, Villatoro tells us, “she received over $2,000 in birthday presents from my clients,” and not a cent was spent to bring the event together.
See more of Villatoro’s work here or follow her here. A video of the day’s highlights can be found here.

Reverend Kat Campion-Spall weeps as she celebrates outside the venue after members voted to approve the creation of female bishops at the Church of England General Synod in York, northern England, on July 14, 2014. 7) Liberian Boy:
Local residents dress a sick Saah Exco, 10, after bathing him in a back alley of the West Point slum on August 19, 2014 in Monrovia, Liberia. According to a community organizer, Saah’s mother died of suspected but untested Ebola in West Point before he was brought to the isolation center on the evening of August 13th with his brother Tamba, 6, aunt Ma Hawa, and cousins. His brother died on August 15th. Saah fled the center that same day with several other patients before it was overrun by a mob of slum residents on August 16th. Once out in the neighborhood, Saah was not sheltered, as he was suspected of having Ebola, so he’s been sleeping outside. Residents reportedly began giving him medication, a drip, and oral rehydration liquids today. The whereabouts and condition of his aunt and cousins, who left the facility when it was overrun by the mob, is still unknown at this time. (Saah passed away a day later.)
