Mr Wuorinen, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1970 for his electronic piece, Time’s Ecomium, is renowned for his powerful music. Described as a "maximalist", he has written for orchestra, bands, chamber ensemble, choruses, keyboard, percussion, and electronics, as well as ballets and operas.
