Obama uses an attack more commonly seen leveled at Democrats than against McCain. But attacking McCain on fiscal irresponsibility is a hugely important argument, especially with Independents. What this ad does not do, however, is link McCain to the last eight years of GOP profligacy (as well as slipping in a misleading line about McCain’s privatizing social security). Link him to Republican big spending. It’s his party and his president:
