Jason Zasky interviews the cheapest man in America. One exchange:
Q: Is it really possible to soft-boil eggs in the dishwasher?
A:Yes, I did a bunch of work on this. You can also soft-boil an egg in the basket with your coffee grounds.

That’s McCain spokesman, Joe The Plumber’s, final message about Obama. Oh, and against democracy as well. Broadcast by Fox.
It’s patriotism as much as anything:
And not just any Mormon: Steve Young, NFL star and the great-great-great grandson of Brigham Young! And not just any opposition but $37,000. The Proposition has exposed a lot of bigotry among the Mormon leadership, but it has also shown how many tolerant, decent, secular Mormons there are as well.
Ross misses Rove:
Allowing that this was a hard time for a Republican to run for President, and allowing that Barack Obama might well have won the White House no matter what McCain did, it’s still the case that this has been a lousy, lousy conservative campaign for the Presidency. (Poulos’ line about how it’s been consistently "flying beneath the pride of conservatives and Republicans" seems like a good way of putting it.) I’ve defended the McCain folks against the liberal hysteria that treats this as the Most Evil Right-Wing Campaign Ever, and I’d defend them again. But that famous line from Talleyrand – it was worse than a crime; it was a mistake – seems applicable here: It’s been worse than an evil campaign; it’s been a dumb one.
Who said dumb and evil were mutually exclusive categories? I’ll tell you one thing: Bob Dole (whom I endorsed in 1996) lost his election badly. But he didn’t lose his soul or his reputation. That’s the difference with McCain.
Ginger and Fred, breaking the tension:
"Senators Obama and Biden have made clear their commitment to fighting for equal rights for all Americans whether it’s by granting LGBT Americans all the civil rights and benefits available to heterosexual couples, or repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’ Senator Obama has already announced that the Obama-Biden ticket opposes Proposition 8 and similar discriminatory constitutional amendments that could roll back the civil rights he and Senator Biden strongly believe should be afforded to all Americans," – Ben LaBolt, Obama campaign spokesman, responding to Yes On 8 flyers distorting Obama’s position on marriage equality.
Lawrence Eagleburger says he never meant to shoot them in the face, so to speak:
On cue, another McCain supporter says Palin isn’t ready.
Dave Dilegge and Bing West attack Nir Rosen for embedding with the Taliban. Here’s West:
…in addition to providing the Taliban with a propaganda coup, did he violate moral strictures, given that killing Americans was an objective of the very Taliban attacks he wanted to watch? Is a journalist guided by virtues higher than those of patriotism or nationalism? Does a journalist transcend the laws and norms governing other American citizens? And who is not a journalist, if every blog and e-mail is a branch of journalism?
Noah Shachtman rounds-up blogosphere blowback and gets a comment from Rosen.
Zachary Roth accuses the Bush administration of trying to smear Obama at the eleventh-hour.
