Deference, Again, Please

Palin is mad at the press again, dissing a new book that claims she knew she was on a vice-presidential short list as early as February 2008. I cannot verify if she met with McCain and got wind of this, or whether she just suspected she had a shot. But I don’t doubt she had her eyes on it for a while:

Shortly after being elected mayor of Wasilla, Palin is quoted by friends as saying, “I want to be president.” Soon after becoming mayor, her interactions with the media grew heated. “My goodness, I’ve been here 11 days. Give me a break, please,” she said at a press conference.

“I don’t remember other mayors getting grilled like this,” she is quoted as saying later. The book also states that Todd Palin got into a feud with a local editorial cartoonist over the drawings of his wife.

That’s the same paranoia that prevented her from giving the press the access and documentation it needed to cover her accurately in the presidential campaign. And she still refuses to give even her local paper simple documentation allowing it to disprove many of the rumors about her that won’t die.
