Yes, there are benefits to partisanship and to debating within rough-and-ready party structures. But when partisanship became, as it did under Bush, a near-cult of orthodoxy covering up a massive betrayal of conservative principles, avoiding any mention of this legacy now seems deliberately, well, partisan.
