Nate Silver makes connections between Obama’s approval rating (which is bound to sink) and his domestic policy push. Money quote:
…a president’s goal is not to maximize his approval rating; it’s to maximize the amount of policy that he’s able to push forward over the balance of his term. Obama is using a lot of his political capital now in order to try and push forward a lot of agenda — but this, I would argue, is wise, because otherwise some of that political capital will evaporate anyway owing to the economy.
Obama is a strategist more than a tactician. And yet the MSM still doesn’t understand. And the Gergens and Finemans flounder around saying the same things they kept saying in the campaign.
