As my colleague Ethan Bronner reports from Bahrain's capital, Manama, the monument at the center of the Pearl Roundabout in the city, which had become a symbol of pro-democracy protests, was destroyed by Bahrain's government on Friday. [… O]ne of the Bahraini bloggers who supported the occupation of the roundabout by protesters transmitted an image of the smashed monument from his phone to Yfrog with this caption: "Every time I saw that pearl it made me happy, now they have torn it down. We will rebuild it we must!"
