Is Mead joking? You can't work at WalMart if you test positive for drugs. Employee drug test are done largely to reduce insurance costs. They have essentially nothing to do with the morality of using drugs. If the law changed tomorrow, companies would still have mandatory tests to limit their exposure to liability claims, thus minimizing their premiums.
E.D. Kain is similarly unimpressed by Mead's logic.
