The Crowd-Sourced Economy, Ctd

As a long-time reader, I just wanted to thank you for mentioning Double Fine’s Kickstarter project.  The original budget was $300k to make the game and $100k to make a documentary about it.  Considering those amounts, we are overwhelmed and warmed by the support we got from our fans.  One million dollars in one day was really unexpected and wonderful.  Every penny of the additional funds is going to go into funding the game and the documentary, of course. For some context, here are a few game budgets for games of this same type that Tim Schafer headed up in the past (at Lucas Arts): Grim Fandango – $3MM (1998), Full Throttle – slightly over $2MM (1995), Day of the Tentacle – $600k (1993)

We've all been there. Inevitably, somebody you know (or used to know) invites you to donate to their cause via Kickstarter. Sometimes it's a completely legitimate goal that you want to contribute to — and other times… well, it's more like this.
