I have to say I agree with some readers on Ross Douthat's remark that
"[T]he G.O.P. remains the most plausible institutional vehicle for conservative ideas about health care…"
The thing is, I had to get to understand the healthcare policy debate in the 1990s and the core conservative ideas then were an individual mandate and healthcare exchanges where consumers could shop for their own insurance policy. Both of those are in Obamacare as they were in Romneycare.
The truth is that "the most plausible institutional vehicle for conservative ideas about health care" is the Obama administration.
