Ouya itself won’t just be a console. It will be, essentially, an app store packaged in a sleek box. Like the Kindle Fire, the Ouya is basically a cash register, only instead of portable it’s hooked up to your TV. How this business model translates to developers is an open question. An even more pressing point is execution and the lineup of games. All of this is just wild-eyed speculation until we see what kind of games the Ouya plays and how well it plays them. Aesthetically pleasing design and an ambitious idea are nothing without execution to match.
