Last weekend Wikileaks played a prank on former NYT editor Bill Keller in which they created a fake op-ed and Twitter account to embarass him and the Times. Since it occurred after Rosen’s “Ask Anything” taping, we asked Jay if he had any additional thoughts in light of the stunt:
If Wikileaks is in the "for proof we have the documents" business, it cannot also be in the "we make fake documents" business. Keep in mind that one of the threats to the Wikileaks model has always been that it would get fooled by forgeries and present them as real. It hasn't happened yet, but the threat is there. So I didn't like their stunt. I did not think it was well-reasoned.
