Tom Coburn has come out with his annual Wastebook, 2012 [pdf]. Eliminating waste will not, not, not make a real dent on the nation's fiscal standing. We have to cut defense, reform taxes drastically while raising revenue, and still ration health insurance by government or the market or some combination of the two. But when you find that the average American is paying for tax breaks for PepsiCo or for the NHL, you realize there's work to be done. And Medicare and Medicaid may have to take care of all the concussion dementia the subsidized NFL knowingly profits from.
