The Christianists Rally The Troops

Weigel reports on Pulpit Freedom Sunday, a "growing movement of bold pastors preaching biblical Truth about candidates and elections from their pulpits on October 7, 2012." An example:

“Our ruling elites hate the future,” says Douglas Wilson at a church in Idaho. “When they are not killing the citizens of the future, they are taxing the remainder into a staggering slavery. They hate it. They hate God and they hate the image of God. They hate the image of God and man, and that’s why they attack the most innocent among us.”

Meanwhile, Vyckie Garrison writes about her church showing Dinesh D’Souza’s 2016: Obama’s America to her daughter. Garrison sat down with the church leaders to express her concern:

[T]he larger point I took away from the discussion was more about my perspective as a former card-carrying member of the Christian Right, and how our different worldviews shaped our ability to see the teen movie trip as a problem. From inside the “hedge of protection”—a Christian ghetto undisturbed by competing viewpoints—the pastors could not fathom 2016: Obama’s America as blatant propaganda.
